NY Soc. St. Exam

Hi, Noreen. I'm a fourth grade teacher agonizing over the upcoming social studies test. I just finished my "summer curriculum writing" by compiling and designing "DBQ's" to go along with each of the major topics we study.| Some of the ones I found were pretty good, but I had a very difficult time making quality DBQ's. I think for the next school year I will teach as I always have (I use the NY Studies Weekly Newspaper), but finish each "unit" with a DBQ or a series of constructed response questions. (I think this will be good prep for the ELA exam as well!) I think too, I'll have to spend much more | |
time on government. I know that there are a ton of workbooks and resources coming out to help us prepare. My principal just showed me a great one, but of course, I can't remember the name of it! If you want, let me know and I'll send you the name. Good luck to you! I think we'll all need it!
