Hi Sebreania,
All of the professional teaching organizations publish national standards...IRA (International Reading Association) with NCTE (National Council for Teachers of English); NCTM (National Council for Teachers
of Mathematics); NSTA (National Science Teachers Association); NCSS (National Council for the Social Studies)...you can contact these organizations directly on the net by adding .org to their names. In addition, your state might publish state standards on the internet if you go to their web site (AZ does). My suggestions for professional reading include: Perspectives on Shared Reading
by B. Fisher, Guided Reading by Fountas and Pinnell, Word Matters by Fountas and Pinnell, Interactive Writing by McCarrier and Pinnell, Living and Learning Mathematics by Whitin, Mills and O'Keefe. I have other ideas for math if you'd like them. Bobbi Fischer also has another on teaching first grade which is very good, to give you an overview and great ideas...I think the title is Living and Learning Together, but if you can't find it on the Heinemann web site, post again and I'll look for it in my books...Please post or email if you need anything else.
