Book levels
By Debbie

Clip to ScrapBook
Hi Kerri,
If you get a Perma Bound Catalog, the levels you're wanting are there...I know you didn't want RR levels, but have you explored the differences in the leveling system you want and the one that's used to level
for RR or the one in Matching Books to Readers (Fountas and Pinnell)? One of our teachers did a study on the book levels as you mentioned vs the ones we've gone with in our book room and there was a huge variation in what each considered 'grade level'...the RR/Matching Books to Readers levels take into account many factors, where the other is strictly running the words into a computer
and getting an average based upon the syllables, etc...Check it out, I think you'll have more indepth and valuable information if you use the RR ones, if you want the RR criteria for text levels, I'll pull out one of my books to help you...Debbie ;-D
