Student Council...
By Amy

Clip to ScrapBook
Hi Mindy! I and another teacher in our building started the sc in our building 2 years ago--so we are still learning. Our sc does a lot of activities throughout the year. We have opened a school store that the members
take turns working in am and pm. We do a lot of community service-type jobs, ie, in the fall we had a slave auction where the people in comm could "rent" our services to rake, clean garages, etc. We collect food for the hungry, we collected money to send to an orphanage in Moscow. Leadership within the school is also key. The members act as 'ambassadors' to visitors, etc...

Our school

is very small. We have elections for 2 members per grades 4-8. It's a lot of fun and the kids look forward to the elections.
(They must write an essay stating why they would be good models for the sc in order to be placed on the ballot.)

Good luck! Amy
