Hooked on Phonics
By Kim

Clip to ScrapBook
I have never used this program with a group of children, but I have used it with my own daughter as well as when I have tutored individual children in reading. Personally, I like the program. It is a very systematic way of teaching phonics. What ever skill is being taught, the children will see it in the next set of books; for example the "op" sound will be used in "Pop Fox". They also do a good job of cummulative review. Some people do not like this approach, but I have found it to be a very effective way to teach phonics. Additionally, my daughter as well as the students I have tutored loved using it and felt very successful and proud of their accomplishments.
