You'll probably want to keep your welcome letter pretty basic because of the spread in grade levels that you'll be teaching. Do include a little about yourself (education, family and hobbies). I feel this is important because| I don't think that some parents recognize that we are real people with lives outside of school! You will also want to explain homework policy (whether you'll assign nightly or weekly, when it's due, and the consequences for not returning it on time). Behavior management (rewards and consequences). A basic schedule ( from 8:00-10:00 Reading/Language Studies 10:15-11:30 Math | | (etc.)You may want to include a tear-off section for parent volunteers to return (when they are available). Some of these items might depend upon the grade of the student, so you may need to make several versions to send home. Your rules and expectations may be very different for a 4th grader than what you'd have for an 8th grader. Good luck!
