portfolios
By Chris

Clip to ScrapBook
A first grade teacher in the school where I was made individual portfolios for each student that "bound" their work into one of those plastic binding do-hingies. (They have teeth that open up when placed into the binder
machine.)

Each cover was brightly colored construction paper (large size), with "Star Student" written on it, a big gold star with their picture in the middle, their name, grade, & year. The covers & backs were laminated & just before they ran through the laminating machine she'd sprinkle a little gold glitter onto it. They looked great!

Inside she put samples of the childrens work.

This WAS a tedious job, opening each book's binding ring thingy, removing the cover, adding the new pages and then replacing the cover. She had a wonderful group of "helper moms" who helped put these together, using the schools binding machine. She collected papers from the beginning of the year, but didn't start to put them into the final portfolios until much later in the year, like spring. Once they were started, moms would come in one day a month & add the month's pages.

These were a lot of work, but they were so cute. The parenst just raved about them & the kids were so proud to have their own "portfolio".
