Making it work
By Karla

Clip to ScrapBook
I, too, returned to teaching this past year. I worked in the library profession as a Library Director for nine years and left because of pressure, unhappiness, being overworked and unappreciated. I really had to consider
my choice as well, because I went from making $32,500 to $23,700. While am not single, I do have a family of five with two incomes. Buying groceries, clothing, misc., for five people, house payment, and on, and on, and on!!! At the same time, my husband was starting his second year of owning his own business, so at best, things were "iffy".

I have never regretted my choice. One

thing for sure, I am appreciated now!! I especially like being paid over the summer and being able to spend time with my children. I figured out that taking into consideration the money I save in child care over the summer and the better benefits (I never had vision or dental insurance before) it is pretty much even with money.

Being single, you could always take a second job during the summer and have two incomes.

It doesn't matter how much you make if you aren't happy. Things always have a way of working themselves out. Go with your heart!!

Best wishes!
