Teaching
By Catherine

Clip to ScrapBook
I love teaching and can't imagine not working with children. When you come to this site and read the comments from teachers please remember that you are at a site named "Vent". We come here to share frustrations, fears
and concerns. For each comment you read here please read a comment on the "Inspirations" board. It might help you have a more balanced look at what we do and why.

Have you ever worked with children before? Have you taken classes in education? I ask because those two things really are important in becoming a successful teacher. If you have not done either one you may want to consider

doing some volunteer work in schools before making such a drastic life change. The money issues are definetly there and you have to be incredibly commited to teaching to make the monetary sacrifes it requires (especially after a taste of how the other side lives). I don't want to sound discouraging but I do want you to make an informed choice. I have friends that feel sad for me because of the money issue that comes with teaching. I feel sad for them because many of them are spending 40-60 hours a week doing things they don't enjoy. I would rather be happy and live a less material life than unhappy and surrounded by "stuff". I do have friends that have left the field because they can't afford to take care of their family on the limited salary, so it is a real issue to consider. We need more caring and qualified teachers. I hope after searching your heart you come to join us in this wonderful field. -Catherine
