time for ELA

You don't have much time. I have to take from SS/SCI to get enough time to cover ELA effectively. I try to incorporate SS/SCI in other ways. I do not teach both everyday. I do SS for a week (or so), then Science.I spend sooo much time on ELA. We do Reading Renaissance, so I allot 60 minutes a day to independent reading. 30 min. for shared reading/writing; 30 min. for writer's workshop/ grammar skill, 20 min. for vocabulary development/ spelling skill. The subjects seperated by / , are rotated. Kelley
