I have students clean out their desk every Monday morning when they first come in because they usually don't have homework on the weekends. On a job chart one of the jobs would be "Desk Checker" and this person would go around the room all week and check the desks. (After you explained to the class that this person was sent by you.) They report back to me and I would speak to the student with the untidy desk. The person with the neatest desk will receive a "Cleanest Desk" certificate at the end of the week and they would choose a job of their own next week.
