It would not hurt to apply at these other schools, just in case. You don't have to accept the position if your home district pulls through for you..but if you don't apply elsewhere, you could end up unemployed with a new house to pay for! And these new districts could be just what you are looking for but don't know it yet! If your home district doesn't ask you back, please remember that it was a numbers thing and don't take it personally. It happens all the time in schools and businesses alike. It would not be reasonable to think they could keep you if the student enrollment is way down. And if they do ask you back, then you are just all the better for experiencing the application and interviewing process at those other districts. Good luck.
