portfolio suggestions

Clip to ScrapBook
Hi Sherie- I have been teaching for 7 years and have used portfolio assessment for 6 of those years. However, my portfolios have always been subject based (i.e. writing portfolio, science portfolio, etc.) and I'm not sure
what you have in mind with yours. I have two outstanding books on managing portfolio assessment but don't have them here at home. I will find them when I visit my classroom next week and jot down the titles for you. There are so many cool storage ideas for portfolios... one of the neatest ones I've heard of is getting a local pizza place to donate large pizza boxes, one per child, and use
these as portfolios. These would be great if your students create products that are 3-dimensional or require larger pieces of paper, or products that are saved on a floppy disk or cd... the "table of contents" for the portfolio can be attached to the inside lid of the box, and students can cover & decorate the outside of the box. Storage of pizza box portfolios could be a challenge, unless you have cubbies big enough... or perhaps one of those metal storage cabinets? I will try to get back to you with the book titles. I absolutely love portfolio assessment- best wishes!
Beth
