pencil sharpening
By JennaLuna

Clip to ScrapBook
This is an easy one. I keep an "I CAN" - a coffee can covered with eyes. In in there are lots (LOTS!!!) of sharpened pencils. The kids know that if they need a pencil "I can just go get one."

I assign an I CAN job and that person is responsible for sharpening all the pencils in the can in the morning. If your pencil breaks you just go lay your broken pencil next to the I CAN and take a freshly sharpened one out of it. That way I always have the same amount of pencils (roughly) and there is never a reason to interrupt the class by sharpening pencils.
