Kelley, Thanks for your reply. Here is how my schedule looked this year for Language Arts: On Mondays, because of specials I only had 40 minutes total; on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays I had 90 minutes; on Thursdays I had only 60 minutes, again because of specials; two Wednesdays a month I had an additional 90 minutes because we have half-days on the other two Wednesdays. I have to include reading, writing, spelling, and grammar into these time slots. I feel there is never enough time to devote to writing yet I feel the kids really are losing out, even though I do incorporate writing into other subjects. That's why I'm so frustrated.
