In our building the teachers send home one generic
permission slip at the beginning of the year that covers all field trips, whether by bus or walking.
It is pretty basic. The teachers list the field trips they take (children's museum, pumpkin patch, walking trip to one of the nature parks nearby, whatever... so the parents have an idea of what their child will be participating in that year. Then as it gets closer to the time for a trip, the teachers remind parents in their newsletter.
