I had an exceptionally wonderful mother helper this year. I worked with her first grader. This was their first child to go to school (two others coming up). I had loaned her some of my resource books throughout the year. She was very interested in developmental stages, yardsticks for social, educational growth. They are moving over the summer (rats!) so I bought her her own reference book. She loved it and it will be something she can use for years to come.btw - loved the ideas posted by Trish.
