Please consider me as an applicant for your school system. As an educator I am looking for a school system that supports my values of having parents as active participants, allowing students to become involved in decision-making and allow the community to be part of our children’s learning environment. The concept of School/Community Based Management that has been recently

adopted by Hawaii’s school systems is exactly the atmosphere that I want to be a part of.

After graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Therapeutic Recreation, I continued onto an intense five semester 50 credit Masters Program to obtain my Masters in the Art of Teaching Elementary Education. Because my undergraduate degree focused on the special needs population, I have that route as a possible 6th year degree in my future.
Besides my coursework at Quinnipiac University, I have spent a school year working full- time as a graduate intern; substituting for grades K-4, as well as specials such as music, physical education, art, computers, and the literacy aide. I am a motivated, energetic, and creative person that is seeking a school system that will welcome the types of hands-on interactive lessons that I feel are so important for education today. Having also worked as a Title One Head Literacy and Math Aide I fully understand the importance of effective literacy and math instruction. I truly believe that it takes a caring individual with an open mind that is dedicated to challenging students to reach their personal best. Having experience in both rural and urban school systems, I welcome diversity into my class. Having had the opportunity to student teach in an inner city district I found the diversity of my students to be an excellent opportunity to educate them about different cultures and ethnic backgrounds.

Overall I am excited to be entering a field where I will have the opportunity to change, help and provide opportunities for so many young individuals to gain the skills that will allow them to become life long learners. I think that I would be a great asset to your school system as a motivated, and enthusiastic educator. Thank you for your time and consideration.
