GA has a program like that too. It's called a provisional. Essentially, people who have a degree, who have certain courses in their background, and who are entering into a critical need area can get a temporary license| to teach. Like this ACP-teacher, a teacher with a provisional is able to work in the school, but must complete the classes for education and get their actual license to teach within 3yrs. The thing is, with this, the provisional teacher still MUST get the full license to teach and do the coursework. In this new program though, the people will be getting a full license after taking a 4-week | | course. I guess the assumption is that teaching is that easy a field that they can train these individuals to be excellent teachers in 4weeks. Is this true? Is the degree, therefore, that we are or have gotten not that important and something we actually didn't need in order to teach? What do you all think?
