This is of interest to me because I'm questioning the limited training. I live in Houston, Texas, a city of many teacher shortages. We have an ACP program that offers the following:

the program is called Alternative
Certification Program

An individual must have a bachlors degree

An individual entering the program through Houston ISD does have an initial training period, but I am not sure of the length of time

the individual is assigned to a school and is assigned a mentor teacher

the district continues to have ACP teacher meetings to answer questions. I beleive there are some that include

the mentor, because the mentor receives a stipend.

the ACP teacher must continue to get college credit for courses in education which would fulfill the hours required to get a Texas teaching certificate

the ACP teacher does have a time limit to complete the education courses and must satisfy the annual performance review requirements
