2/3 split
By Ashley

Clip to ScrapBook
Hi..
I taught a 2/3 split class this year and it took a lot of getting used to for both the children and myself. But once the class got into the swing of things, (by May :0) everything seemed to fall into place.
What I think is most important, is letting the children know "what" their responsibility in the class is and how important it is to maintain that throughout the year. (For example, when you are working with one grade, the other must respect the other) Be sure that their routine and schedule is as clear as can be. I don't know how your curriculum works but I taught 2 seperate math
lessons a day. If you are able to combine lessons then do so, (which is what i did when it was applicable). I also had a helper in Reading... (who took my 2nd graders out for Reading, while I worked with my 3rd grade)
You will do just fine. It's all an experience. I'm not sure if I helped you any... but i didn't want to ramble. Let me know if I can help. Good luck
