Have you considered having your son evaluated by the school's speech/language pathologist? Many students who have good decoding skills but poor comprehension skills have an underlying language problem. If the SLP determines that a language delay exists, he/she can provide you with activities/ strategies which may facilitate language processing/reading comprehension. Your child may also be eligible for language therapy services within the school setting.
