Teaching you child
By Susie

Clip to ScrapBook
I am finishing up the year with my daughter in my class. It has been a wonderful experience for me...and she wants me to teach 3rd grade so she can have me again. (I don't know why...I'd think she'd be REALLY tired of me!)

Anyway,
I had no choice as I'm the only teacher on my track. It was me or put her on a different track with different vacations.

She tried to call me Mrs.---, but it didn't work. She calls me mom, and that's fine. I've had no issues with the other kids or parents. I have felt a little funny at times about the possibility of preferential treatment. Sometimes I don't call on her

because I don't want to show preference. i am definitely strict with her (because I know her, and she'll daydream). I push her more than I would another student because I know her capabilities, and I also know how she can avoid work!

It's been great. the year has flown by! Before the year began, I came onto this site and got lots of negative comments about it. "Don't do it!", etc. I consider it my only opportunity to "home school" my child, and going on the field trips with her was fun!
