maternity leave
By Nicole

Clip to ScrapBook
First of all, I wish you the best of luck! I subbed for 3 years so I have done it all
I was on maternity leave at the beginning of the school year! Here are some things I wish I did, or things I had told my sub.
First
of all YOU ARE the teacher, practice saying I know that you did it this way with Ms. Smith but I am not Ms. Smith!
Find out right away who will be doing report cards. What the procedure is for the scoring and such. What kind of "end of the year things" are you responsible for doing and finishing. Dont wait and assume they will remeber you arent use to the procedures, you will be
a staff member and they will be so used to seeing you you may have to remind them you haven always been there!
Try to make a time that your "other" teacher can come in with the baby or send in a photo! This takes away some of the wondering the kids have!
Lastly, have the principal write you a recommendation at the end of the year (this assumes you are looking for full time teaching position).
You will enjoy it!
Best of luck!
