I do however have a problem with people, teachers included, who say that a child is too hyper he must be ADHD! What about the other children, the ones who may be ADD! They aren't hyper... but they may be having problems sorting out the information that is taught to them on a daily basis. Are our teachers and parents recognizing this also? These children may be shy, afraid to answer because of low self esteem, they feel they probably have the wrong answer, so they don't participate as often. With ADD and ADHD you have to treat as well as medicate. Self esteem is fragile for most people, it is brittle for ADD and ADHD! They need constant reassurance and a daily pat on the back (who doesn't!)It's not hard to do and the results are wonderful.
