first year trials

After teaching 18 years I can still relate to the disappointments of the first year. I would recommend that you not become disillusioned yet! Maybe you haven't found the setting that best suits you. I've taught fifth grade for a long time and know that middle school must be quite a challenge. Are you staying or looking for a different position? Do you have supportive staff members around you? Our district holds a support group for new teachers and it really seems to help. Hang in there and and think about what you HAVE accomplished this year.
