Sabrina,
Don't quit. Once, in the heat of the moment, a parent told me I would do things differently when I had children of my own. I was incensed! The situation involved her very obstinate son and some late work he
was required to do. Why did she think I would compromise my principles once I had children?

Well, now I have children and she was right. I do look at things differently. She knew something I didn't know and she threw it up to me at a very bad moment. She thought every teacher should understand the difficulties of parenting. Well, every teacher doesn't! Every teacher doesn't have

a learning disability, either. But we all deal with students every day who do. Every teacher isn't a person of color, but we all teach children of color. We all teach students learning English as a second language. We all teach children of the opposite sex. I guess my point is that we can be good teachers without having the same experiences as our students or their parents.

It is true that you'll be a different teacher if you choose to have children. As to changing the fact that you are young.....that will take care of itself.
