Barbara- What all three women have told you is my total reading philosophy. I have Kinder. for over 12 years in TX and know what it's like to have a student not know anything and have one come read your summer WELCOME letter to them to you before school starts. One of the kids I have is reading on a 3rd grade level! It doesn't happen often but it will at some point. Oh, the joy when they realize they can read! I love that moment!!! That's why I teach!!!! Do a combo of all the strategies, all the curriculums, encourage parents to read and LISTEN and do phonics and language skills. It takes all of it to be successful...
