Pond Ideas
By Ms. Wall

Clip to ScrapBook
We have been studying all types of habitats in the third grade all year long. We took a big field trip that to a pond that is one of the best learning experiences I've ever done. It takes a lot of work so you may want to look at it for the future. We had 10 stations with a parent volunteer teaching a lesson at each one. We measured the bridge and used the book "If you hopped like a frog", identified bugs, did bird watching, etc. We also read the book "There was an old lady" and then made a pond food chain to go inside a ziploc bag. Then we stapled an "old lady" head to the top, arms to the side and legs on the bottom so the baggie became her stomach.
