ADHD
By Sharon

Clip to ScrapBook
The world of ADHD is so controversial.
I am a teacher and a parent of an ADHD child.
When my son was in preschool I started noticing
reoccuring behaviors that could not be controlled
with behavior management.
I did time out, loss of privildges, etc...

In kindergarten he excelled accademically but socially was having difficulty staying on task.
I took him to our family doctor. He requested documentation from his teacher. Next, he sent us to a child psychologist for an eval.
There it was confirmed that he had an attention problem but like many adhd children he had above average intelligence.

He is 14 and an honor student taking advanced classes now.

My advice to anyone it to go to the family dr first. They should know the steps involved. If they recommend meds without any documentation go somewhere else!
