I agree! I'm sure I learned more my first year then the students did! Now you have that valuable first year of experience to look back on and build upon. What were the highlights? What things do you want to include next year?
What aspects would you like to eliminate or change? It is a constantly changing profession and each year will be different and you will have your ups and downs. Try not to take any of it too personally and you will succeed.Find a colleague to share with and/or write back here!! I have found that often the little rewards are the most valuable. If you are not familiar with Harry Wong's
The First Days of School, I highly recommend it. He has valuable ways to establish a positive overall climate in the classroom. He has a useful website too. Hang in there...it will get better.
