Wow! I couldn't have said this better because I am going through the exact thing with my goofy 7th graders. Their attitudes are ridiculous. They walk into my room and want to control it. I feel like I'm constantly at battle with them. I never wanted to be one of those "MEAN" teachers who yelled for my kids to behave, but it's the only thing that works at all. I do not think I can handle middle school kids even though my area is in 5-12. I'm thinking about high school instead. Maybe they will be more "willing" to conform to basic classroom rules. I will definately try to be much more assertive the next year. Can't wait for this year to end. These kids have taken me down,
