It is now evening and I am calmer now. I have already contacted other school districts by e-mail about job openings. I contacted the Human Resources Director in my district and told her I couldn't accept positions so far
away. I would have to break my contract if there wasn't something closer to home.

Shortly after I posted this message, my principal sent me an e-mail. He offered me the trite message "It wasn't meant to happen that way." I called a teacher I work with, and she told me that he mentioned one layoff in our school at the faculty meeting after school today. Then he mentioned my name.

He said I was leaving because I was the last one hired. I wasn't at the faculty meeting. I left early because I was so upset, and the teachers were nice enough to watch my kids for me. They are a really sweet bunch of ladies and I am going to miss them more than anything.
