Teaching your own children... By Cindy

Hello!I think this is a really hard situation to be in. At our school district, I know the practice of having your own children in your room is discouraged because of things that have happened in the past. Sometimes it | works, other times it doesn't. The reason the practice is discouraged at our school is that one teacher had her child in her class and another teachers child in her class. The other teacher's child was a huge behavior problem and she was in denial about the problems her kid was causing. (He happened to be picking on the the teachers kid (the one who had her own kid in her class) and it | | was just a mess. Its not always easy to ingnore the comments of others. Weight the pros/con carefully. Just because your daughter wouldn't be in your room doesn't mean that is the only chance you can see her if she was. However, as a parent, I can appreicate your thoughts on the matter. I will be faced with the same problem in two years, when my son is up for 5th grade. We have such a small school district, I am the only fifth grade teacher, so if I am decide not to be his teacher, I will have to change grade levels. I hope everything works out...just weigh all the pros/cons to it all. Sometimes, its more then you bargin for, I think. Best of luck!!
