school day By Opal

I'm from Kentucky, northeastern KY to be exact. Kids get off the bus about 7:30. Everyone is supposed to be in their room at 8:00 a.m. attendance is to be turned in by 8:15a.m. and then classes begin. We have 25 minutes for lunch and no recess time, unless a teacher just does it on their own, but it is not encouraged. Buses load at 3:10 p.m. and teacher may leave after 3:35 p.m. I was amazed at some of the dismissal times. As KY law states we have to have at least 6 hours of instruction with students taking having being actively involoved. I know of one school that has had to lengthen their day to 3:30 for students because they didn't meet state standards during a instruction time audit. Do any other states have mandatory active instruction lengths?
