I didn't go into teaching for the money, the praise, or for the
What has happened over the years, however, is that teaching has become a second consideration in everyone's life. Even government officials do not look at teaching as being important. Oh, now during an election year they talk the talk and say they are going to do all these great things for teachers. All I ever seen in the past 6 years being in a school system is the constant development of paper work for teachers to do. Don't they realize this takes away from teaching students instead of helping it? NO!!!! I'm glad to have studied to be a teacher. Granted there are rotten apples in teaching, there are those who managed to get their certificate in order to have the summers and snow days off, or use it as a stepping stone to go into administration where they think life is easier. I have found, however, that the truly dedicated teachers are still out there. They want to enlighten a child's life, they want to encourage someone to great heights, and they do it not for the money, the fame, or fortune, they do it because it is their calling. Yes, doctors, lawyers, priests, nurses, scientists, stock market analysts, teachers, and even the drive through clerk all have something in common. They were all taught by teachers who gave their best so others could learn. It's what they do with the knowledge that determines where they go in life. Keep the light of knowledge bright, be a teacher, encourage someone to find their dream!!!!
