Sub "blues"
By Robin

Clip to ScrapBook
Don't take the kids'(and adult's) comments to heart. If you have children of your own, they will almost always behave for someone new or not as familiar. I've always heard (and choose to believe) that this behaviour is because
the kids feel "safe" with you and therefore will do things they are not secure enough to do or say with someone else. I know we focus on the negative behaviour that they feel "safe" enough to do, but I am willing to bet that they do and say a lot of wonderful things that your subs and other staff members never do, and never would, get to witness.
So, as hard as it is to imagine,
take their tendency to act up around you as a sort of back-handed compliment. And, if you like, think of unkind (though likely unintentional) comments by collegues as a sign of jealousy. HA HA!!
