How do I keep my kids from stealing them?

I am an admitted book freak. I have discovered all the best places to go to get books and how to get them cheap. My problem is, my kids keep taking them. Yes, I know, I should be thrilled that they want to read these books so badly, but I cannot afford to supply their home libraries. I let them check books out, but many times kids just stick the books in their bookbags and I have no way of tracking them down. What do I do?
