advice on deciding what to teach By Jane Ann Wells
|
| Hi Kelli, I went back to college for my masters when I was 39 and even then I still had some worries about what area/grade on which to concentrate--even though I had been in education for almost 20 years! Every age has different ways of learning;the most difficult thing is teaching to those different (developmental) stages. Are you good at taking complex concepts and transforming them into child-friendly/developmentally appropriate language? Then you might enjoy the lower grades. If you are thrilled by one particular subject, you may be better suited for an upper grade. You may want to volunteer at a local school and work with many different grades before you make any decisions. And you can always change your mind later on--even 20 years later.
