One problem new teachers face is not knowing where to go next for help. If your school administrator is not helpful, you need to go to the next level. I can't speak to the legalities of what is happening in your school. Is it a public school? If so, there should be a district level administrator who oversees your area. Also, there may be written guidelines either at the district level or the state level. You should pursue information and administration outside of your school to see what your responsibilities and resources are. Many districts have this information available on the Internet. Finding the right person can make your life so much easier. Also, take advantage of any district-wide trainings that deal with your area. Not only will you learn what you can do, but you'll make valuable contacts in other schools that may be able to guide you.
