mail crate
By Jana

Clip to ScrapBook
Our mailboxes aren't quite as roomy, but they've worked for me... I have a large file crate that I put hanging file folders in-- each folder has the little plastic tab that you can put each child's name in. I have helpers that 'file mail' each day, and the folders are placed in alphabetical order (so they're working on this skill as well as simple name recognition, too.) The only thing that I do do, however, which takes a little more time out on my part is I hand out mail at the end of the day. Since there's not a lot of extra room around the crate it'd be hard for several kids to be up at the crate fighting for their mail. Plus, it allows me to be sure each child has gotten their mail.
