Clip to ScrapBook
I teach in Louisiana. We have had rolling sick-outs going since November. Our district was out 2 days. School districts have taken turns going out for one-two days. We have had some success. The legislature just found
money for $2,000 a year per teacher. It was not the $3,500 we were hoping for. We are among the very bottom in teacher pay. It would take $3500 to bring us up to the "southern" average. Now, you know that can't be too high anyway. Since, the school systems took turns. It helped. We all called in sick, and so many teachers were out that superintendents canceled school, so no sick
days were even used. Seems to be over for awhile.

I know this is tough, but you have to stick with the majority. My mother is a retired teacher. They had a strike back in the 70's. There were many hard feelings toward the teachers who crossed the lines and went to work. Feelings that were never repaired.
