Mother's Day
By SB

Clip to ScrapBook
I have my students make Mommy Memory books. Each child creates a cover for it with original artwork. I laminate it. Then they write separate entries about special memories they have about being with their mom. Each student usually creates 5 short paragraphs (each a different memory on a different page). We bind the books and the children wrap them fro the holiday. It sounds simplistic and not very showy but it has been received with rave reviews. Mom's love the mushy stuff and cannot believe the stuff their own children remember. Of course some of this does take some priming the pump. Reading some children's picture books, recounting your own special memories etc.
