Why Mosquitoes buzz...

I used this book while studying Ghana with my K/1 class. We read several other books with this pattern, e.g. Why the Sun and Moon live in the sky, How the Guineafowl got her spots, etc. My students worked with their 3/4 buddies to write their own folktales. Some ideas they had were: Why pigs have funny noses, Why snakes have no legs, how the unicorn got its horn, how strawberries became red, etc.... they wrote them in book format for their "sloppy copies." Now I'm typing up their stories into one page each to make a collection of folktales.
