organizing By j

You can not assume that people, especially children, will be as organized as you, a natural organizer. Those of us that aren't just don't see things the same way you do.( I say that speaking asa clutter-brain.) We have good| intentions and mean well, but it doesn't come easy or naturally. We have to THINK about the best and most efficient way where you might just know which way would work best. That said... here is my suggestion. TELL THEM WHAT TO DO.( especially at the very beginning) When it is time to do math..say to them.."get out your red math notebooks and place them on your desk next to your book." | | When you give them a study sheet say. "I want these study sheets to be placed inside your red math folders.Put them inside the pocket marked "keep" ". (or "open the brads and place it behind the last sheet". ) Then, give them a minute to do it before moving on. If they feel rushed, they will cram it anywhere just so they won't get left behind in the next lesson. As you move on, scan the room to see that everyone is on track before you start. If not say so.. " I see a few people have not yet put their math folders up." Let them know what you expect early on and keep reminding them. Take up folders for spot checks once in a while. Give the ones who have done their jobs a 5 point bonus or free gum chewing time etc... Praising their efforts this way makes even the messiest Marvin strive to do better!
