feast
By Ann

Clip to ScrapBook
I know when my 3 children were in grade school and they had feasts, the majority of the children just ate the desert. Very few ate anything else. These students also came from families who have big Thanksgivings every year.
It was not a big deal to these students. They did like getting out of class work for half of the day for their feast though. We parents would just look at the kids and think, why do the teachers do theis year after year. All of this food is just going to waste. The teachers were not willing to give up their lunch time, so the kids also had lunch right before their feast...so on
top of everything else, they just weren't hungry. I just have a very small "snack" feast for my first graders. We make little vests and headbands and bonnets for them to wear and all seem to enjoy it. I have it around the end of the day so they are hungry again and are ready for a little snack.
Good luck.
