    I just had to applaud you on your post for Anna. I could not have explained it any better myself. Anna, I too believe that a balanced approach to teaching is the most effective route to go. Traditional methods work well for some children and the newer teaching methods help keep teachers refreshed and children excited about learning. I think that when we graduate from college we feel like we have to use the most updated teaching philosophies all the time, yet many parents feel comfortable with traditional methods. When you effectively combine both practices, you are balancing your teaching and a majority of children and parents will feel more comfortable. Good luck and remember that every year of teaching is a new balancing act and the best teachers are transformed every year.
