Teaching the same students for a 2nd year
By Krista

Clip to ScrapBook
Hi!

I haven't had direct experience with "looping", but I teach in a small school with many split grades. I'm teaching 2/3 for the second time this year, and my class this year has 8 of my grade 2 students from last year
who are now in grade 3. It has been really fun. There was only one student that I was not sure that I wanted to teach again, but he has improved so much in behaviour and responsibility that it has been very positive. It is amazing to see the progress that all of these kids have made from last September. I find that they usually don't mind doing some activities that they did last year
(that may not be the same if everyone had done it). My only "warning" is to take care with any routines you establish that they are things that you can live with long-term, as I have found certain (minor) things that I might have done differently with a totally new group that I have ended up leaving the same. I think that looping is definitely something that you can look forward to.
