Systems By Same Feelings

I know just what you mean. I am trying to keep track of hallway behavior, who's written in their planners, who got their parents to sign the planner, who read their 20 minutes for homework, who turned in their homework,| who is reading minimum number of pages in their literature book, etc. I think you get my drift. I am always explaining to my students the "new" plan because the one I tried did not work for me. I am sure I drive some of them crazy, and I am sure some of them just think I don't know what I am doing. However, I too feel I get the ones whose offenses are serious. Overall I have good |
| classroom management skills. I am just always trying to find a system that works more effectively. Sometimes I think we buck the system because it really does not fit us. For example, perhaps you are unable to enforce the "one check mark = no recess" rule successfully because you really feel it's not fair. Is your inability to keep up with all the "systems" affecting your students' achievement or your partnership with your team teacher? If it is -- talk to your colleague about it. If not -- don't worry about it. Most of all, don't beat yourself up because you think you may be falling short in some areas. We have so much to do all the time, and we are, after all, human.
