learning centers
By Elaine

Clip to ScrapBook
I have not used learning centers with my 4th/5th graders in the past but have recently been toying with the idea of setting something up. I've always connected learning centers with the lower elementary grades, but you mention
some fun ideas.

In our school we have a daily 30-minute study time. Some students have to go out at this time for speech, reading support, etc. Since it was created to make sure those students going out do not miss instruction, we are not supposed to "teach" during this time. Sometimes students have assignments to work on and sometimes they don't. I think I'd like to make

some things available at this time. What do you think? When do your students use the learning centers? I just don't want it to be something students will rush through their regular work to use. Any advice you or any of you other wise ProTeacher participants have would be appreciated. Thank you very much.
